Palm bluetooth headset can’t play MP3

Last November, I wrote that I want a Palm bluetooth headset. Since the Foleo was canceled — and I probably would not be able to afford if it was sold anyway — I thought the headset would be my Christmas gift to myself.

I was able to buy one on eBay for a total price of P2,466.17 because of the $20 shipping. I picked it up from the post office on February 7.

I excitedly tried it when I arrived home. Since the package only had the charger and there was no user guide included, I couldn’t pair the headset with my phone. I had to search the Web for a manual before I was able to make it work. Among the cool features I found out was redialing the last dialed number by just pressing the center button on the headset.

Even before buying the headset, I already knew that a third-party software was needed on the Treo to use a bluetooth headset to listen to MP3s. I was ready to buy the Softick Audio Gateway software when I learned that my new headset is not a2DP compliant. A2Dp means advanced audio distribution profile, and for me, it just means I could never ever use the Palm Treo headset to listen to MP3s!

I should have done more research first. Nakakahiya, researcher pa naman ako.

Moral of the story: huwag padalus-dalos sa pagbili (Don’t be an impulsive buyer.)
